W-O-W interview with me
read/see/feel the "original" interview + other much cooler women, here: W-O-W!!!!!!

Anika Lori (aka Miss Lori) is a half Danish and half Italian girl based in Copenhagen: her usual activity embraces collage art and artworks, but she even likes to spin music alongside her friend Djuna Barnes with the moniker “Suicide Overkill”. She is also part of the "art rebels" crew and she is mother of her lovely son Woody.
How would you describe your work to a person that doesn’t know you?
A portal into a world where vintage porn, fashion icons, and kitschy memorabilia interlace with feelings of love, hurt and admiration.
Could you please tell us more about your background and career?
Too cool for school. But not for the Danish painter Tal R, that I learned quite some tricks from, when assisting him from 2002-2005.
Could you please let us know more about the “Art Rebels” collective in which you are in?
A true love connection. All good people with funny ideas. Let’s have a party and share the love. My good friend Carla Cammilla Hjort is the beating heart behind it all. The mother ship. I am a house artist, advisor, cook and friend. At the moment I am making the cover art for their next big music project in collaboration with Music for Dreams: Fagget Fairys. It’s their solo album “Feed the Horse”, they are a shining pair of lesbians with hardcore beats.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Earth, Wind and Fire. And the darkness.
Sometimes you also play as a deejay and MC: what are your favourite artists? What kind of music do you spin?
I play the music that you thought you’d forgotten. My all time favourites, some new melancholy and a few electronical wonders. I play what I want. Fleetwood Mac, London Beat, Tpau, Cocktail Vommit, Schneider TM, Fagget Fairys, Rework, Chris Isaak, Booka Shade, Trentemøller, Crystal Castles, Dr. Demento, Nina Hagen and Patsy Cline. When I play with Djuna Barnes we sometimes do some improvisation. We call ourselves Suicide Overkill.
How do you find working in Copenhagen? Why did you choose to live there in the first place?
I am a lucky person. Work seems to find me. It just seemed like the only right thing to do.
Are there any places you'd definitely recommend to any girl visiting Copenhagen?
Girl or boy, I would visit the "Dyrehaven" in the fall with its cold and windy touch, you might see a reindeer!. Freetown Christiania’s falafel-stand and the lakes. "V1 Gallery" and the "Bar Jolene" in The Meatpacking District. Restaurants "Bottega" and “Mielcke & Hurtigkarl” for the hungry heart. And getting drunk in the most adorable little bar: "Byens Kro" in Møntergade. Also just check out www.copenhagen.unlike.net.
What are the best exhibitions experiences you had? Why?
A sold out show before the opening. That just feels so good.
What do you think are your greatest professional achievements?
My first solo show “You own the clown for putting up that nude face” at V1 Gallery January 2005. The first time is always very special. And making a little big human, Woody. But I guess if I called it “professional achievement” it would sound a bit strange. But he is my biggest success in life. My pearl.
What’s the latest project you have been working on?
I did a quirky loo in a damn fine new restaurant called “Mielcke & Hurtigkarl” in Copenhagen. It’s like walking in to the backstage area in the circus with a little twist. You piss in the mouth of the clown and there is smoke coming out of his nostrils with aromas to support the menu in the restaurant.
I have also a solo show in London at UNION gallery. I call it: “Nobody puts baby in a corner”
Future plans?
Apart from being a successful artist, mother and human in general I would like to meet a billionaire with a dream of building a marvellous Hotel and the guts to let me be the interior designer. All the way from the “where in the world do we get the tree to build that funny little rocking-chair” to “What aroma do we want the guests to enjoy while getting pissed in the perfectly shaped bar, drinking bio-drinks served from the hand of a waiter in a shining gold uniform” or some thing like that.
Who is the woman you'd like to see featured/interviewed here?
Unnur Andrea of Island and Miss Fish of Copenhagen.
